Member Benefits

Make a Difference
We aim to promote what our companies are doing to make a difference. Being a Network member gives you access to other like-minded companies who can help you reduce your carbon emissions, introduce better systems, and make improvements.

Best Practice
Our members are generous with their expertise. We encourage each other to share ideas and best practice to improve environmental performance and save money.

Manage Impacts
If you’re just starting out, or if you are a seasoned professional, you will gain ideas or information from the Network that will help you to stay within the law, manage and reduce your environmental impacts.

Free Seminars
Our seminar programme is free to members and our expert speakers cover a wide range of topics that are designed to help businesses cut carbon emissions, produce less waste and behave in a responsible and sustainable way.

about us
The Green Business Network (GBN) is a membership organisation and a Charity, which helps businesses reduce their impact on the environment.
GBN brings together like‐minded businesses to help each other reduce energy and water consumption, eliminate waste, design products more sustainably, increase biodiversity on‐site, manage impacts, and put environmental issues at the heart of your company’s decision making.
We can also help you reduce your liabilities by understanding your legal obligations.
We have been doing this for more than 25 years
Our Team

Jacky Sherman
Acting Chair Connect
Jacky Sherman
Jacky retired from the NHS in 2003 and set up her own coaching company with no commercial background and a very hazy idea of how to go about networking. Feeling de-skilled she became a client of Asentiv, and transformed her own business using their techniques .
She then bought into the company and utilising her unique combination of mentoring and coaching plus Asentiv’s referral marketing techniques she has helped hundreds of companies in the area to achieve their business aspirations. As a result she has a diverse range of contacts across most industries based in the areas. If she is not able to access someone you want to meet she probably knows someone who can help you.
This year (2021) she is semi-retiring and is able to bring her knowledge, skills and experience to bear in helping businesses address their contribution to the environmental agenda .
She joined the Green Business Network as a member, quite quickly became a Trustee and is proud to be taking the leadership role as Chair. What she specifically brings to the table is that network and her breath of experience to bring together businesses and enabling them to work together to build better businesses than they could on their own.
Her favourite quote sums up her belief in how humans can achieve the impossible.
“In the long history of humankind, those who learned to collaborate and improvise most effectively have prevailed” Charles Darwin The Origin of Species.

Why Select Us?
We help you to create an environmental management system to meet the requirements of ISO 14001. This Standard is internationally recognised and is often a requirement when tendering for contracts. Find out more about our Preparing for ISO 14001 Certification training course.

Workshops
We can provide bespoke workshops or training sessions to help you effect behavioural change in your workplace. Gaining staff buy-in is essential to the success of reducing your environmental impacts.

Funding
GBN can help you to identify grants and funding to support environmental initiatives, or green innovation, and then guide you through the application process.

Surveys
We can arrange for an auditor to visit your site to conduct either an ISO 14001 external audit, or an energy, water, transport or waste survey. This will help you to reduce emissions, cut down waste, and is likely to save you money.

Costs
Opportunities to reduce waste disposal costs or even make money from your waste by participating in waste minimisation and waste exchange programmes.

and PR
If you need help to shout about your achievements, we can help by providing you with press releases, cases studies, and advice on how to publicise the great work that you’re doing in traditional and social media.

Testimonials

Thought Provoking
I have found the seminars to be very thought provoking. They cover a range of topics, which I have found useful to enhance my knowledge of sustainability and how this impacts our day-to-day lives, and this helps us to build environmental considerations into the decisions we make as a business.

Delighted
We're delighted to have joined the Green Business Network. We've already benefitted from attending seminars about improving the efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions from transport, and now have tools to evaluate and minimise our energy usage across the business. We have made a commitment to achieve a net zero emissions target by 2021, and the knowledge base accessible through the Green Business Network will be a valuable resource to help us achieve this.

Friendly and Welcoming
I joined GBN to help make our business more environmentally conscious. I learned lots of helpful ideas and tips that I could share with my business at the monthly seminars. The GBN members are friendly and welcoming, and I found the time to network, which was useful in building relationships with other businesses and sharing ideas.
